So what's the deal with wide and close?

Everything have 1993 is close and everthing before is wide?

I ask because I have a 2006D CLOSE and two 2005S that are wide?

None of the AM's are touching. The Close AM coins are after 1992. The wide AM coins are before 1993. The exception being noted on http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html.

For more info check out: http://www.varietyvista.com/lincoln_cent_RDV_changes.htm This site give detailed info about all the reverse changes.

The correct lingo really is "Type two PROOF reverse". And the best way to tell is the location of the initials. As working dies get older, they sometimes spread...which can make the space between the A and M wider.

Those 2005 S' are proofs, which explains why they have the "Type two PROOF reverse".

No kidding. San Fransisco didn't make any business strike coins in '05, just proofs. Nice find!

Yeah heck I thought it was just BU cents.. but they must have came from the same roll or something, as they both have exact lite strikes on the second 0 and the 5 in the year.
