Found this yesterday roll seraching - just wondering has anyone seen mintmarks lower than this ?

Hi Guys, This looks like a good thread to post these pics. Do you guys think that misplaced (or offset) mintmarks have a market out there? I don't remember seeing the mint mark being so close to the date... what do you think. Thanks, Lestrrr

My undertanding of MM placement is that it would be normal anywhere within the area of the field between the date, rim and vest. However there may be some that collect those near other devices.
The '58 looks like it may be an RPM / split lower serif???? or is that just a shadow.

Hi Steven, It's not a shadow. I believe it's a nick simply because there is no separation of the upper serif or division of the loop. Originally I thought the 54' S was an RPM because of the additional center line (diagonal portion) and the metal connecting the S to the 5 but it looks a little too flat for doubling. Unfortunately with my microscope the picture gets a little too distorted to be sure. I just remembered that I took close ups of this so I'll ask your opinion on that. I don't remember an RPM listed for this year/mint like this but I'll have to go look again. Thanks again Steven!
