What do you think about the grade of this one?

Wow, it actually looks good to me, when you zoom in on the date and motto in the ovberse image, you can see the separation in the 9 as well as kind of on TRUST....If I were selling it I'd definitely get it slabbed. If it's a problem free coin, it's probably not priced too unreasonably for the Unc brown coin it looks to be. For having such a comparatively high mintage for the year, this variety is so very rare in MS grades!

I would agree with the grading of this one. It is a beautiful coin. After finding a few of them over the years, and attributing a few more, this is one of the nicest ones I have seen.

I do not like the description which sounds like there is a spot of some sort on the reverse. The seller should just slab the coin and sell it later. All that said, if I had the funds, I would make a reasonable offer...

It's possible that the seller is being overly open and honest about the coin's condition- Unless the photo is altered, I've seen far worse in slabs. I've found that even a few small spots of corrosion don't always necessarily get the coin in a genuine holder- especially if it's a very rare coin. Seems a couple of the grading services have started giving a bit of leeway on such situations.

Beautiful coin, but IMO it would get a details grade. I can see signs of it being "conserved" so to speak. There is a hole on the reverse. You can alos see on the obv that theres signs of something been removed. Maybe the seller already tried to get it slabbed and didnt ike that it was a details grade or maybe a genuine. Who knows?

I don't know what makes you think that - I'm just a poor high school math teacher. That Matte Proof I bought I'm still trying to find ways to pay for. I would not be interested in this coin. I agree with Jason (Kloccwork), I think that this coin has been played with and will be certified GENUINE. That spot on the back does not look right.

The more I look at that coin, the more I am convinced that the seller knows fully well there is a big question about the condition and thus an attempt at pawning it off raw on eBay.

Could be that there is a problem with the coin offered, but he does make it emphatically clear that there is an issue...I know a couple of serious collectors that would take a sharp EDS with a minor problem over a problem free LDS example of some rare coins.
If I had this coin for sale, I'd definitely make reference to any issues, but after giving full disclosure, I believe there's still someone out there for every [reasonably priced] coin.

I could probably scrape up $500 for this but I doubt that the seller would let it go that cheap. And I would agree, in a number of circumstances I would take a problem EDS over a beautiful LDS...

I'm not advocating for the seller, but I do know this coin is exceedingly rare in uncirculated. I have a customer who snapped up a '17 DDO PCGS MS-64 Red off of eBay in the first 10 minutes it was listed- for $1,000! I mentioned the coin to another customer and customer #2 asked me to offer the coin's owner $10,000 for the coin. In the end, customer #1 didn't want to part with the coin, even at a 10x profit. Unc examples all together are tough for the '17 ddo. On the eBay coin listed, it'd be hard to figure out a fair value without seeing it in hand.
