I'm asking because I am having 404 type errors whenever I try to navigate through this website.

I know that there is a layover of personnell from LCR to Coppercoins or vice versa. But I can't seem to locate a 'contact us' link to report this problem to.

thanks...Lara

I suppose, one could suggest that LCR and Coppercoins.com are affiliated as the attributers are all on the forum. Hopefully Bob will have a suggestion. I just checked Coppercoins.com and did not have any navigation issues; maybe it was temporary or has been fixed?

Hi Jason,

No I've been experiencing this problem for over a week now. I didn't use to have this issue.

The only thing I can on there is do the "Advance Search" Which is really the most critical one for me, as it has been an excellent educational tool, but I would like to view the rest of the site sometimes :P

Lara,
Can I ask what address you are trying? We do have a few pages down while we attempt to modify the site. Otherwise, I have not had any reported problems with the coppercoins website. Might I suggest you clear your cache and try again? I have accessed it through 4 different computers and I was able to access it without any problems. I also added a few dies to the site this evening.

Yeah the navigation stuff happens depending on which coin you land on it's like the menu is updating to some old links. Like home wants to go to coppercoins.com/lincoln/index or something.

Actually it's typically anything related to non die searches. So say you go to: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/date.php

Then the home button on page loads wants to head over to:
http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/index.htm
^^^^^
Which is the issue there, injecting the wrong link.

Also then if you get stuck in those pages, and say go to the Grading link you end up with http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/grading/grading.php and then home turns into http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/grading/index.htm

It's almost as if the menu/header is dynamic and is using some BASE html structure for determining links.

oh boy oh boy....Pat you have lost me with your first response lol.

Bob, I am using ...cough..er...chough...ahem...Explorer

Pat, I *think* I understand what you might be kind of saying, but I'm lost.

Here is what happens.....this here http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
is what I've used as Shortcut.

When I clikc on Home this is what I get http://www.coppercoins.com/index.php

No problem.

I think will lets say... click on..."reference" and it won't let me do anything.

I click on "FAQ" (here)http://www.coppercoins.com/faq.php and this time I got a blank page

I click on here http://www.coppercoins.com/newssearch.php and I get the 404 error.

I don't know lol

Oh...OK. Those are all problems with the old code that Chuck was supposed to fix when the new site came on line. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I guess all I can suggest is that you do all your navigating from the Home Page, including your die searches. Right now, that is the area that is being updated constantly. All of the other links are either old, or being re-written as time permits.

mmm Bob I would like to but I can't. The site won't let me. All I really can do is Die search, Recent Additions, Buy the book advertised, and most of the Headers are I guess dead links.

I can access the odd one or two, but for the most part...I can't access much.

www.google.com/chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome)

Also Internet Explorer 9 was released yesterday or the day before. I'm using 9.

In either case the issues you are experiencing are non-browser related be related to the site showing the new header "Tan Menus" vs "Old Header Double Line white buttons".

Umm.. Think of it like this. When you first go there it's all dandy. Then you click on LIncoln Cents Date Guide (http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/date.php) then that page date.php loads and you see the date guide. Yay!

But you notice that the tan menu is gone and it's a different looking menu. That different looking menu is the old menu like Bob was saying so those links don't always work until that page gets updated.

Navigating coppercoins is not THAT hard! I go everywhere from the advanced search. The other parts of the website are often incomplete, nonexistent, old, etc. You can search for any Lincoln cent variety you desire. Just use this link: http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php. I have this saved in my favorites, so I simply click it, input the date in the slots, and press enter. If I want to be more specific, I simply check the box indicating whether it is a doubled die or mint mark variety. The forum also works fine, but I rarely go there. It's a massive site, so keeping it up to date after a major switch in layout is difficult, and it's not like Chuck and Bob have all the time in the world.

I don't know what to tell you Lara. The main reason people use coppercoins is to do a die search http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
Are you able to input a date or dates on this page and get the info you need? What else is it that you are wanting to see?

I have always went to http://coppercoins.com and then hit the "die variety search" link on the upper left. Never had a problem and never missed a site announcement from the homepage.
