1961-D Last Night's Finds!

[Rum River Coin]

I found two potential RPMs last night! One of them matches very well to RPM-044, but the other is questionable. I have attached photos of both, along with a reference photo from Coppercoins.com. It seems the closest match is the 1MM-075 from Coppercoins, which is not attributed by CONECA. Your thoughts?

I think your attribution is correct on the first one. The problem with the second is that the mintmark took a hit. Sometimes, this obliterates the possibility of making a positive ID. I think that is the case for your second coin. In addition, 1960 and 1961 were so prolific with RPMs, that sometimes it is just too difficult to tell by photos alone as a lot of them are very similar to one another.

The MM is a bit flat. I was matching up the notch in the upper left, the "fatness" of the lower left, and the shape of the inner opening of the D. Because there are so many from '60 and '61, as you mentioned, I was really only searching for -001 and -009. These two were all that I found from '61. I'll be searching a bag of '60-D tonight!
