looks like a fat d. like compressed. or "D" pressed. its on the S too.

Pretty common for the date. As the die wears...the devices put on some weight. There are a couple of nice 1982 large Date Copper (LDC) varieties to look for (obverses).

'The Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents' by John Wexler and Kevin Flynn lists two 1982 doubled dies, and the coppercoins.com site shows another.
