Wow! You're on a roll!!
Wow! You're on a roll!!
You intended the pun didn't you.. :) Actually from this sort over the last 3 days, I have found that 1919 and 1929 are the most common wheat's at least for this 40lbs of coins.. I have I believe 18 rolls of 1919 and 16 rolls of 1929's..
I'm starting to think that I may be oversorting them. What I mean by that maybe I should just leave common wheats in a box and not sort 1909-1958 into each year, because I was then thinking of sorting them down further once completed by MM.
Overkill?

No, it's not overkill.
Sort them however you want. That's a pretty nice haul.
But here's the first page of my lincoln binder.. I never liked writing all that much..

I don't think it's overkill either, only because I'm in the process of doing the same thing! I think it's good for a couple of reasons: first, you'll always be able to either search through a specific year whenever you want or be able to sell rolls by year, and second, by separating them by MM you'll be able to check each one as you do it to double check for RPM's that you may have missed the first time. The way I see it, I've probably overlooked at least 50 varieties while searching through bags because my eyes start to cross after staring through a 10X loupe for 6 hours! It's a great way to double check, but that's my opinion.

Hi everyone, i was invited to join your group, and to be frank i am very shy, but hey here goes. I was looking through a roll of cents and found a 1970 p doubled die obv, in looking it up i only found a 1970 S Doubled Die Cent and it was thirty thousand dollars, i about died, anyway i am poor and it would be nice to have a new pair of shoes, anyway if you go to coppercoins and pull up a 1972 type 3 Doubled die you will see exactly how my coin looks-- it just a 1970 - if you look at the books they all say one exist but they say that for each year. Have any of you ever seen a 1970 doubled die obv cent that is doubled In God We Trust and Liberty the date is not doubled, it is well defined, i have a lot of great coins i want to share with our small group of ten and i want to hear what you all have foundor maybe want to trade or sell, i am not certain how the rules are, i realy need to get out more often, but i realy want to get into a group of fellow collectors-- i have been doing it alone for decades- enjoyed talking to you all = got to go to sleep = looking forward to any comment - chuck

Welcome Charles, is there any chance you could post a photo of your new discovery?
Have any of you ever seen a 1970 doubled die obv cent that is doubled In God We Trust and Liberty the date is not doubled,
I don't mean to be a downer, but is it possible that you are looking at machine doubling?

Pat,
The last photo of the 1955D looks to be an RPM#003. D/D/D. Showing as split serifs or a tilt and a nearly full MM to the east. May want to check the markers for that one to be sure. Nice find anyway.

I agree. That variety is listed in Cherrypickers.
