Ok here it is starting in 2009 their will be four new lincoln cent put into circulation, I have talked to the Tenn Federal Res Bank, the following info was provide, (note not set in stone) they plan on releaseing mint rolled boxes the box amount unknow(25.00 or 50.00) and also a mint sealed bag(50.00). Each bag will be limited to a several week release,fist of four releases no date set for release. As collectors we are suppose to be able to contact our bank/credit union and they will be able to order these bags and boxes for us. The main thing is that your local banks/credit union are only going to be able to get the closest coins being produced in you part of the country. What I would like to do is to set up a network that will help LCR members to obtaine these coins when they are released outside their areas (we must act fast because their is a small window to order(not in stone yet). Most of my local banks have said that so far nothing has been put out on the info for the new penny. I know that i will be ableto get the p mint bags and will be looking for the d and s mint, I think the best way to bulk ship in flat rate boxs 8.5 x 11.5 x 5.75 mails for 9.00 and insureance is 1.65. any comentls lem me know and if you will to help pm me so i can make a list of who will help and how you want to work this..richard

You can put me down for both P and D bags. It wasn't until April before my bank had any 08's. I could order from the bank but they want a min. of 2500.00 order.

Does anyone have any information that the USMint.gov might sell bags of P&D or boxes as they are for the new $1.00 just to get the new Lincolns into circulation. Or also sell by the bag as they do with the SAC's and Kennedys. It may be too early for any info yet. The "S" mint mark will proably be for the Proof coins unless they do a special as Snowman stated for "SMS" sets. (Just a Thought)

my opinion is i would wait to see what the US Mint has in mind on selling these. The mint most likely will sell something because they have promoting the 2009's. The shipping from the Mint is usually a good deal if you combine items

I would like to get a P-D box or bag of each design. Putting back for my grandsons. Hopefully the mint wont botch this deal. to all:::the new 2009 will be availe in a 50.00 bag of loose coins not rolled closed at the mint that made them...per what i was informed by fed bank and that your bank will be able to order these bags as the date for each coin arrives/limited time frame to ordered/currently this is still all we know for sure 4 coins, 4 release date(unknown/not published)...richard

The mint made it illegal to melt our pennies, and there was also verbage on not exporting more than five bucks worth of copper outside our borders.

It sounds like you can only obtain bags from a bank, if thats the case I still have to get it through someone else. I prefer not to go thru the mint as I would have to register, set up account, etc. etc. just for one transaction. Living in Canada really sucks when you love searching Lincolns.

daggit if your in good with the head teller at the bank you use you may try and have her/him find out if she can order us coins from a fed bank. this is where they are distributed from and only in mint sewn bags value 50.00 us...no one will be able to order this coin from mint except in mint sets, as they no longer process rolls of penny for the collector. i will look at what the flat rate to canda is takes longer but if it works can you wait the extra days..richard

Hi Richard I am willing to wait if you can find out what is required for cost of the whole works and let me know. Very much appreciated! I will still enquire at my bank but I don't hold out much hope for that.

I went to my bank and asked if they could order me 3-5 hundred dollars in the 09 cents and they said there was no way they could do it. I think they just didn't want to mess with it. I'll have to find another way I guess. :|

hay everyone still no new news on this 2009 cent thing, but i am watching all the fed sorces to be on top of it if you talk to your banks remember that they are only going to be released thur a fed sorce(only to bank)...going to be 50.00 bags and the 25.00 box...i last spoke to my bank and she tells me right now their is nothing out as to how this is going to work and when the orders will be allowed to process...ill keep you guys/gals posted..richard

I'm working with my Bank now and they talked to the Fed in Atlanta. Fed does not have any instructions on how to fill serviced Banks requests for the new Lincolns and the Atlanta Fed is working on it for my Bank. Hopefully the www.usmint.gov (http://www.usmint.gov) will be selling them as they do the 50C, Sac's and new $1.00. Wait and see and I will share any info I get. Joe

hey guys gals here the lates i have been able to fine out about the 2009 pennys....first release date is going to be feb 12 2009..then..may 14 2009..then aug 13 2009 and last nov 12 2009...i have been unable to local a bank or credit union that will have access to the fed bags(50.00) or the rolled boxes..may be a 25.00 and 50.00 box not surewhich or if it will be both...atlanta fed passed that the dates may shift a little...hoping to fine someone here at lrc that will work with the folks that are unable to get direct access to these coins..looking for someone thats around denver and also san francisco for the p's close to altana or phil....i would pay for shipping and insurance should be able to ship flat rate box with bag of 50.00 for about 15.00 my area is searved by the new orleans brach and they dont plan to order these pennies..anyone out denver or cal way thats heard anything on the d and s mints status let me know...thanks richard

I would second this post. I mainly deal with credit unions. The bank's are pick when your not a customer. P and S mint's are what I am looking for also. Doe anyone have access to these and I concur on the shipping whether it be 1 box or 5.

I heard that the fed reserve banks are backed up with old coin, due to the enonomy, everyone is cashing in their little piggy banks...the feds are not ordering new coin from the mint, they have refused shipment....so it might be awhile on the new cents out in circulation at your banks...my local credit union stated they may get some in Mid-March....

Question, has anyone heard if 2009-D were minted and pre-released like they were in Kentucky and Washington DC with the 2009-P?

In related news, I've been getting boxes of cents to go through, and I have found an unpreceneted # of wheats and indian heads....I think people are cashing in their jars of coins......

I just got off the phone with a mint rep. They know as much as we do. THE REP DID SAY THE MINT WILL BE HANDLING PROOF, and UNC sets containing ALL FOUR reverses. No definete time or announce date was available. The mint web site will be carrying everything just stated.
OH, THE REP SAID " Due to the unprecidented demand there will/was a release of 2009 lincoln cents to QUALIFIED DEALERS" So thats how HSN got a hold of there 2009's and were sold out in a day. Members, we need a MOLE or inside source at the mint.

I hope my math is right. $1,250for 50 rolls=$25 a roll

$25 for 50 cents = $0.50 per lincoln cent

At first it looked crazy but at $0.50 each it still seems very high but affordable if you could purchase in a smaller quaintity. But for a $25 box with 2500 coins in it that's outragious. $125.00 would be a better price for me to buy that box. That would make it 5 cents per coin. What do you say?

Only 80 boxes of the first release. 200,000 total of the first release, with dates before 12 February. Certified rolls available- 4,000 total. The stamped rolls are selling for 300 a pop. What if it is discovered that they inserted some oddity like a VDB on the reverse in only the first releases? That is why I went after a box, and why it is still sealed with Lincoln Stamps, which are also on the way to a sellout. Die trails are already known in the first issues, could be other stuff. I hope! Will post a pic of the box later.

I think you can buy 250.00 in dollar rolls with no shipping. Why not the Lincolns, I would gladly put up 250 for them. Might be wrong on the dollar deal, but I think its correct.
