Somebody help me out here. There seems to be a big descrepancy between CONECA and the Die Variety Magazine. The RDV-006 I found is definitly the Die pair 3 shown on the Die Variety Magazine, but it is definitly not the pair 3 shown on CONECA. Mine is a pair 1 or pair 4 as shown on CONECA. I'm leaning toward pair 1 because of the scratches around Lincoln's Adam's Apple.

A clear discrepancy is the die crack on Memorial to the left rim. This coin is not listed as the same die pair by both cites. One of the die pairs has a really weak "IN GOD". That is not the one I found. Mine also has a few degrees rotated reverse (clockwise).

What's up?

Different attributer's and possibly a mix up in photos. I made the same mistake with my first one. Best thing to do is send it to one of the attributer's to determine which Die Pair # it is. One of mine, the Die Pair #3 which is encapsulated is the same as Die Variety Magazine pictures (Die Pair #3).

Mine must be the same as yours. The most prominant marker on mine is two diagonal die scratches between the R and U of "TRUST". This is shown on the Die Variety Magazine.

Thanks for the information. I do plan on having the coin and a few other of my finds slabbed.

John Wexler sent this msg to me: The CONECA Die #3 is listed in his files as 1988 1C WTRD-001 (Wexler Transitional Reverse Die). The key die marker for this one is the die crack that runs from the left cornice to the rim through the "I" of UNITED: This should help distinguish a CONECA DIE Pair #3.

Also to show you another difference between attributer's CONECA's Die #1 is listed as 1988 1C WTRD-002 in the Wexler Files.

I'm still learning from everyone else who participates here in the Forum. Glad to be of help in some way.

I had the same mixup when I found my Die#3. I just remember that if it has a die crack - it is die #3.
Thanks for the info.

CONECA and DVN numbering is the same for dies #1 and 2. Dies #3 and 4 are switched. I don't know anything about wexler.

Thanks everyone for the information. I've come to the conclusion that mine is die pair 3 from DVM and die pair 4 from CONECA. I was not able to find the Wexler cite.

Mr. Wexler does not have a site to show attributions.
