coins cleaning

how to get rid of regular dirt on coins ? what is the better way ?
I heard vinegar does a good job ...

I tried Vaseline. Works pretty good. use Q-tip. then Wipe clean with a VERY soft cloth .

BUT.depends on what your tring to clean.

PS. If it destroys your coin...NOT MY FAULT.

Best thing is to NEVER clean your coins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have heard never clean your coins. thats the best advice. mint finish is proof of authenticity. however, if you must i believe goo gone what people say you should use.

I am talking about some dirt between letters or along the rim ... I know not to scrub or polish a coin but I think removing just dirt only should be fine ...

i've used acetone and a Q-tip

the best coin i used the stuff on was a Sacagawea wounded eagle dollar coin that went into a ANACS slab with MS63. it was pretty nasty looking on 1 side before i used the stuff. I sold it on ebay and then the seller had it in a PCGS slab with the same grade a few months later reselling it. i was surprised it went into a PCGS slab because you could see where i cleaned it.

You can use the thorn from a rose to get at the grit between letters. It is dicey, and make sure the grit does not cling to the thorn and then scratch the coin elsewhere.
