ANY INTEREST IN 30 POUNDS (APPROX $53.76) OF AU/RED-RED/BROWN 1982-2011 LINCOLN PENNIES COMPOSED OF THE COPPER PLATED ZINC PLANCHET?

I'VE BEEN SORTING COPPER PENNIES FROM THE ZINC ONES FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW. I'VE SOLD MY INVENTORY OF COPPER MEMORIALS AND NOW I'M LEFT WITH A HUGE INVENTORY OF ZINC COINS. I HAVE AN AGREEMENT WITH MY BANK WHERE THEY WILL PROVIDE ME WITH A CERTAIN NUMBER OF ROLLS EACH MONTH AT NO CHARGE PROVIDED THAT I DON'T RETURN THE ZINC ONES. THIS LEAVES ME WITH ONLY ONE OPTION AND THAT IS TO TAKE THEM TO WAL-MART WHERE I AM CHARGED 10 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR TO CASH IN MY ZINCS.

I KNOW THERE IS A GOOD NUMBER OF YOU THAT LOVE LOOKING FOR THE HUGE NUMBER OF VARIETIES (DOUBLE DIES, REPUNCHED MINT MARKS) AND ERRORS THAT EXIST IN THE DATES RUNNING FROM 1982-2011. SO WHAT I'VE DONE IS TO 'SKIM' ALL THE BRIGHT RED/RED BROWN PENNIES OFF OF THE TOP OF MY ZINC COLLECTION AND I AM OFFERING THEM HERE FOR SALE.

THE MAJORITY OF THESE COINS FALL WITHIN THE AU-BU RANGE. TO BE CERTAIN THERE WILL BE A GOOD NUMBER OF COINS THAT MAY FALL IN EXTRA FINE CATEGORY. ALL MOST ALL WILL BE EITHER RED OR RED/BROWN IN COLOR. THERE MAY BE A FEW THAT SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS THAT WOULD GRADE OUT AS BROWN.

I DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR PATIENCE TO SORT THROUGH THESE COINS DESPITE THE POTENTIAL OF FINDING SOME VERY VALUABLE COINS. I WON'T LIST ANY PRICES FOR ANY OF THE VARIETIES LISTED BELOW. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE WORTH. I WILL, HOWEVER, REMIND YOU OF HOW MUCH A BU ROLL OF CERTAIN DATES AND MINT MARKS ARE GOING FOR.

I DON'T ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE, BUT WHERE I LIVE, THE DENVER MINT MARK DOMINATES THE TOTAL PERCENTAGE OF LINCOLN PENNIES IN CIRCULATION. AROUND 70% OF THE COINS YOU RECEIVE WILL HAVE THE DENVER MINT MARK.
BELOW ARE A FEW OF THE VERY VALUABLE COINS THAT COULD BE FOUND

WHY WASTE YOUR TIME SORTING THROUGH ZINC PENNIES OF LESSOR QUALITY WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO? HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU FOUND A VALUABLE VARIETY BUT IT WAS IN SUCH POOR SHAPE THAT IT TURNED OUT TO BE WORTHLESS? ELIMINATE THAT POSSIBILITY WITH THESE.

UNLIKE IT'S 95% COPPER COUSIN WHICH WEIGHS IN A 3.1 GRAMS, THE ZINC VARIETY WEIGHS IN AT ONLY 2.5 GRAMS SO IT TAKES A FEW MORE OF THE ZINCS TO MAKE UP A POUND OF PENNIES.
THERE ARE 448 GRAMS IN ONE POUND.
SO IT TAKES 179 ZINC PENNIES TO MAKE UP ONE POUND. (448 /2.5)
179 zinc pennies X 30LBS = $53.70
I'm not looking to profit from this offer ... I'll sell them for face value and split the cost of shipping with you... Around $10.00 total. Face it, you can't get to your bank and back home without burning $5.00 in gas and how many $25 bricks of pennies would you have to sort through in order to get this number of quality pennies?

Any interest contact me using my forum mailbox.

THANK YOU AND GOOD HUNTING.

Strange bank. I'd get another one. They shouldn't be so picky. No zincs! What are they? Copper hoarders? They are supposed to be a place where we can exchange money. If we can't do that, then what purpose do they serve us?

Here is what I do - Take them to Walmart - cash them in , but dont get the cash slip get the Walmart slip . They take 0% if you get the walmart card for it & then you can sell it to someone (I sell $50 slips for $48 ) or use the slips yourself .

Strange bank. I'd get another one. They shouldn't be so picky. No zincs! What are they? Copper hoarders? They are supposed to be a place where we can exchange money. If we can't do that, then what purpose do they serve us?

Around 30% of all pennies in circulation in my neck of the woods are of the copper variety. This means that I have no use/desire for 70% of all the coins I get from my bank. If I purchase $500 a month that translates into 35,000 (700 rolls/195 pounds) of zincs that I have no use for. The bank knows this and sees all the red flags/costs associated with me returning them. Have to pay someone to on their end to handle/process the coins /cost of coin wrappers/ wear and tear on change counting machine/ workers comp claims relating to heavy lifting/ blah, blah, blah... I understand their concerns and have never asked them to do anything different that what we initially agreed upon. I'd always love to be able to buy more coin from them but they warned that they would have to start charging me a fee to provide me with any more coin than I'm getting from them now.

May I ask all of you about the kind of arrangements you have with your financial institution as it pertains to acquiring pennies through them? I'd be very interested in hearing from any and all.

Thanks in advance;

Sonya

Yea but to a bank, a penny is a penny. No reason for them to just want copper. They arent getting just copper from the fed. Just dont make sense.

Well...all the banks I frequent sells me the pennies by the box, so WE have no issues.
So long as they don't give me my marked rolls back to me.

It's like this. The bank has rolls and bricks. I buy x rolls or bricks. I search them. I keep the ones I want. Then I go to the bank and swap x rolls or bricks for the equivalent amount of rolls or bricks. They don't weigh much. It's just a simple swap that doesn't hurt them any at all. It's like exchanging a dollar bill for another dollar bill.

But then, I think I see why they charge you. I don't go through any counting machine. I have them rolled up, bricked up, already for them, and it doesn't take 10 seconds to make the well-nigh meaningless exchange. If you send 35,000 pennies through their coin counting machine every month which they have to pay money to buy the wrappers for, I can easily see why they would charge you.

Thanks for the notice. I was losing sleep. The ad did not mke sense to me. It was going to cost you more to sell them with shipping than to cash them in.
