I would say a possibility or Die Deterioration. It's hard to tell by the picture.

Perhap's I should have stated there was die deterioation. The spread on the S on the top leg vs. the picture provided by CC makes me think this is a LDS coin. The MM position is dead on by my failing eyesight. I think your correct on your assesment Joe. I will add pictures when I find the coin again.

Your correct about the MM being in the right position, it's hard to tell about the MM being separated due to the deterioration. Could very well be LDS.

Joe,
I have added a photo and It's as close as I can get. I think it is th 001 by the raised CU to the West on the Uper Curve to the West. I am not confident in my attribution that's why I want other opinions. Thank you for yours.

Lets let the "RPM" Guru's make a decision. I cannot make a fair determination by the pictures.
I agree. I think Bob or BJ may be the ones that need to say.

Although I didn't think this was the RPM, I did a real quick overlay of the mintmark positioning on your coin with the one on coppercoins. Your coins mintmark is too far north, and a little bit west to be the RPM. It does have some deterioration, but I have found by examining a couple of these (including the one in my collection), that the RPM is still visible, even on a late die state coin.

Bob, are you saying that this is different variety? If not, thank you for the attribution.

David,
I do not beleive this is a variety at all. I think it is just a normal 1911S with some die deterioration.

No. The mint mark is too high.
