View Full Version : Stippling
What causes this stippling effect or tiny bubble effect on the new cents? I've run into alot of these lately and wasn't sure if there was a certain term to use when referencing them.

Here's a reference to Orange Peel. I'm guessing this would be a lamination error.

If you are ever in the market for a 1983 ddr or 1984 ddo, watch out for these. Those years are notorious for having "little bubbles".

Heres an '83 showing the bubbling pretty well or bad depending on how you want to look at it. I lean toward bad.

I believe it's caused by the planchets not being properly cleaned before plating.
