Unusual topical collection

hello Friends, please give me an unusual topic to collect ... one that goes deeply into history and widely into geography, not very expensive and fairly easy to find ...

I have a side collection where I try to get one coin from every country that existed since 1900. I have about 200 coins and it hasn't costed much.

I check the 'junk bin' at the coin dealer for coins of my birth year and before from any country they happen to have in the pile. At $8.50 per pound the coins are fairly affordable.
My grandkid likes to find coins with horses on them.
I also like coins with intricate details.
I will sometimes choose a coin of which I cannot easily determine the origin and then go home and search the internet until I find an example of it.
So many choices.
Back to Lincolns.

I too get the stuff from the returns and collect - I finished an entire canada small cent collection from bank rolls here in NJ>
