The only mention of it (that I can find) is in the book "Looking through Lincoln cents" By Charles Daughtrey. It states on page 219 of the book Quote "The "nub" on the top right part of the 8, and the occasional diagonal lines running through the 8 are die gouges created by the reduction lathe at the time the master hub was created. This supposed 8 over 7 shows on most 1958 cents and is not an over date. They were originally listed as a 1958 over 7 and have been disproven, and most experts on the topic agree" End Quotes This is all I could find. I believe that also a few were encapsulated as such also.

There is not much to tell about this coin. It was originally believed to be a overdate. It was debunked, and most people believe it to be die scratches. ANACS used to certify it as 1958/7D Breen 2225, but now will simply certify it as Breen 2225. This is very similar to the 1956 D/S FS-511. Now, ANACS will only put FS-511 on the slab, but will not put D/S. Without looking, I'm willing to bet that the coin is in an old ANACS white slab if it says 1958/7D.

Thanks Brad for the additional info:). I knew some were encapsulated by ANACS because I have seen them.
If not too much expenditure is made it would be nice to have one and put up as an example. Still an interesting coin as it fooled alot of people. I see the 1956 D/S once in awhile. Still a keeper!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you take Pics at home? To upload pics go to "advanced", "manage attachments" then "Browse" to find the pics.

As you know these have been Debunked. I wouldn't invest much in the 1958/7. There may also be a market somewhere that people actually want this coin. Good luck and congrat's.
