What dates were die styles changed since 1959?
The reverse designs were changed in 1969,1973,1974,1986,1989 and 1993
making transitional varieties possible in
1968,1969,1972,1973,1974,1975,1985,1986,1988,1989, 1992 and 1993.
To date, so far as I know, the only years with confirmed transitional reverse varieties are 1988 and 1992.
There must be more out there...GET LOOKING.

the 1968-69 is tough to distinguish- well at least for me it is
the 1975 i think shouldn't be on the list
also i heard that other wide am's exsist for the other 93 -->97 but this might be a big rumor. so i check them all - LOL

I just sent an email to a high-ranking US Mint official I had met last year. I asked him several questions relating to transitional varieties in general, their origins, their purpose etc. I directed his attention to the 1988 transitionals specifically but did mention others. I won't hold my breath for a reply but the only way to get answers is to ask questions. He seemed to be very helpful when I first met him. I had also sent a very complementary letter to his boss after our first meeting. Let's see if that helps any. I'll let you guys know when/if I get a response. Hopefully the Secret Service won't show up at my front door asking me to surrender my coin.

Is there any significant obverse changes. And if anyone has pics on file of the transitions, maybe they can post them.
