View Full Version : Finders Fee
I read in the Jan 08 Numa Mag about the guy with the Double "God" Dollar. Basically Sac Dollar with the inscription along the edge.. Anyways, the article says PCGS certified it and gave him a $10,000 finders fee as well as let him keep the coin.
Why do they give him $10,000? What's the benefit to PCGS? Do they do that for all new finds? What's the sorty behind it?

i dont want to go off on a tangent and talk about other coins except Lincolns here.
I've made my comments over on PCGS forum about this and I think its a bunch of bunk ! others have said the same thing in one word or another.
my feelings is that PCGS just does it for publicity. its like the carrot on the stick trick saying come over and get it. now who wouldn't for 10,000 dollars.
the person who claims he found it only lives 5-10 miles from the denver mint. most likely knows someone who works at the mint. i'm not saying its not a legitimate error but was probably carefully planned to get it out for the $10,000 finder fee. its sorta like robbing the bank- breaking out of prison scenario. careful planning was made and excuted
also read that the few 2007D Sacs that were made - was made at different times from the Pres dollars and that the edge lettering machine is in opposite sides at the mint. the person who found it only lives a few miles from the mint & found it in pocket change - think about it ??? hmmmm ???
i thought PCGS is offering another finders fee on something else ????
That's very interesting...
