View Full Version : How do you collect Lincolns?

Long ago, I changed my mind about how I collect. I used to believe I needed just one Lincoln of each year/MM. When I upgraded, I simply sold my old, lower-grade coin. Then is occured to me....why the hell am I doing that? I don't use a Dansco. At that point I decided to keep every Lincoln I liked, regardless of grade. If it's a nice example for the grade, I'm keeping it and moving my coins all down to make room.

My next revelation was to collect every year/MM in ALL grades. Now, that's the ultimate collection! It's a daunting and expensive task, but I'm going for it. I just started about 3 months ago. First job is to go through my spares collection....it may take me a year. LOL I've already assimilated my older dates, I'm selling off the grade duplicates to generate funds for the keys. They are a top priority.

I don't collect. I think of myself as a collector's helper. I roll hunt exclusively and try to find what collectors are looking for and add an extra eye for the search. Everything I find is always for sale.

I use to roll up extra memorials and cruddy wheats to trade into the bank for new stock. That is until I realized there were a lot more out there than RPM's to collect. To think of how many coins got past me just about breaks my itty bitty heart. Now I am a hoarder that just can't quit. Addicted.. yep, that is it.
I am glad there are others like Thad, Brefos and Roger, who can part with their extra or unneeded coins so I can add to my growing collection.
Thanks,
Jean
