It sold for $2,250.00 plus buyers fees and S/H.:crossedlips::tinysmile_hmm_t:
Yep, I gave values in another post about this Die #4 and I was pretty close.
This Die #4, when verified, slabbed like this, do not devalue even in a tuff economy we have going on now. It's needed to complete the set.

I bid and lost but well worth the value. :(:) I remembered your post Billy.
That's too bad. Coppercoins and the LCR need pics of that one!

$2,250.00? ...Yikes - that's out of my budget. I could just imagine my wife's face, "I just maxed out the credit-card for this..."
Sorry you lost Joe - but I'm sure there's a DDO-004 with your name on it somewhere...
That was higher than I would have thought. TELETRADE varieties seem sell high. Especially PCGS ones. And, don't forget the 15% buyers fee.

I received this coin today, and it sports just one rim cud at approximately 8:45 (unlike the three shown in the Cherrypicker's Guide). It also exhibits the same reverse die markers shown in "The Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents": (1) die scratches from the lower part of N in UNITED and (2) a small die gouge above the diagonal bar of the N in UNITED (not mentioned but shown in this book). There are also numerous horizontal die scratches through CENT.

Congrats on a very nice purchase. You also made the CONECA page on the coin selling at Teletrade. Brad would love to get some pictures from you and I know DVN (Billy) and CC (Bob) need pictures for there files.
:(You outbid me and I hear there were 10 of us bidders trying to get the coin. I would love to see pictures here on the the Forum. Joe

I was unaware of the coverage on CONECA's website. I figured that I would have to bid strong to get it, but I didn't think that that there would be so many bidders. For me so far, this has been the toughest Lincoln Memorial cent to locate and obtain. I am still waiting for a 1992 P Close AM to come up for auction.

I knew it would be a tough coin to bid on due to Billy's input on the price range, however I did not think much higher than what I bid. It found a good home. Again Congratulations for a Super Buy.
As for the 1992-P Close "AM" I am another one that is looking for the coin and now the 1996 Wide "A M".
:tinysmile_classes_t I may never get a chance to close out my Wrong Reverse Collection however I have made a good run at it and will continue to look for the one's missing in circulation.

Thanks, Billy.
I read the article in last week's issue of Coin World and all the variety experts (including yourself) are pretty much in agreement as to how elusive this variety really is. Once I saw that it was coming up for auction, I used your comments in this forum to base a strong bidding strategy, which was successful.

Your welcome e_kkm.
For those members that may be interested, below is a scan of that article that was just recently published in Coin World by Ken Potter concerning the rarity of the 1972 1c Die #4 variety.
It is an excellent article and very informative for collectors.
