Wow! That's something!!! But why does the label say 1878? Typo I guess. You can see the date from the Lincoln, 1978 and you can see Lincoln's profile on top of Jefferson. That's crazy.
:LOL_Hair: That's a good one!!! Now that's a lot of years!! Thanks for sharing.

That's a really nice coin. (Nice error on that label!) Would love to see it in person...
You know, I never track stuff like this on eBay. Do error Lincolns at this price ever sell on eBay? I've seen coins on eBay Live (that were really on Heritage) sell high - but the bidding takes place in an auction room as well. I've also seen a few big coins like the '55 DDO or a some high grade key dates sell for a lot. As nice as this coin is, somehow I just don't see this selling on eBay for anywhere near that price.

Some errors do go for high prices on E-Bay, as you have to remember dealer, collectors (with DEEP pockets) cruise the auction houses and E-bay for bargains, for resale or for their collections. There is alot of money spent on varieties/error coins and in the past 4-5 years errors has taken a huge jump in prices.
There is alot of money spent on E-bay for collectible coins. Some of your auction houses will run there items on Live E-bay at the same time they are auctioning them at there headquarters or wherever their auctions are held.

That is alot of money, and everyone is thanked for offering perspectives on the costly nature of these coins. There was a 2000 dime/cent for $2,500 a while back, and the dealer explained how much they paid. Hard to believe, but good for us.
