Exactly how many steps are on the Memorial? I know there's been changes to the design many times, most notably the 1980's series. But exactly how many are there!?

As far as the coin goes I don't know, haven't bothered with a count. I believe the actual memorial has 57 steps from the road to the chamber and 98 if counted from the pool. Haven't been there just what I have read on the net.

I don't have enough mag to count them, but I was getting in the 20's too. I guess I'll have to take some pics and then blow them up....I was trying to do this the easy way. It's surprizing that knowbody knows.
I got 19 on a 93. It was in good shape.

I keep getting 19 also..I counted on a few UNC that I ran into. Seems that 19 is a set number..

On a 1990 business strike, there are 19 steps on the die.

Hey Thad,
I counted the steps on a 97' yesterday and got 19 but then I turned the coin 90 degrees and counted again and noticed that step #14 is actually 2 steps together in the middle. There was a separation at the ends of the steps. I don't know if this is true on all coins but that's one thing I noticed. You had mentioned in the past about the Full Step designation on Lincolns and I don't think it's a bad idea.

Thanks for checking, I think I need to pull out some proofs from the bank for pictures. I looked around and don't have a single proof in the house, the breaks of keeping your valuable coins at the bank....but at least I can sleep at night.
