Nope, I wouldn't buy that. The specifications are a bit sketchy and I do not like the penlight beam because there will be glare. I do not think it would be very easy to move the coin around to see the different devices and field.
Just my opinion.

It would be easy to move the scope around the coin tho. I should be able to use the light with some filtering or just use a different light altogether. I dont know

Looks pretty cool to me, but I know little about these. For price, you get USB + software...for me that'd be 90% of the deal because that's all I'd use. It'd be good to hear from somebody that's tried this one.

I think Jean's right, without a moveable stage, hitting the areas you want on something as small as a coin might be very difficult. Sure, you can move the scope but you have to remember if you move the scope by 1mm, it might be on the other side of the coin. LOL

I agree with you Jean. At about $79.00, a QX5 is better. Plus it has 10x, 60x (which is what I use most), and 200x. Its also very easy to use.

The only problem is the resolution. (ie. number of pixels.) is too low.

I suspect this scope/camera would also be low res.

BTW. What camera do you use for your full coin pics? They are great.
I know you posted the camera model previously, but I forgot.

QX3 or 5 isnt good at all. I take better pix with a keychain camera..

This one posted has a camera but you can use your normal camera and just use this as the scope.

I wouldnt spent $40 on a QX5

You're right about the quality of pics on a QX5. Its because of the low pixel count in the camera. (1.2 megapixels I think)

Just make sure the camera in this system has much higher resolution before you buy it. Otherwise you might as well buy a scope without a camera.

I like the QX5 in spite of the low resolution because of ease of use and I don't have to bend over to peep through a scope.

If only the resolution was better so I can pick up the really subtle DDs and RPMs.

Good luck whatever you buy, and let us know later.

I just went ahead and got a stereo and use my own camera to take the pics with. The one i have came with a camera, but it's a piece of junk. I just put my camera up to the scope and do it. A little more work but it made a nice scope affortable for my budget.

This one I think would be good. Not saying the camera is worth a cent but its something that comes off. That way I cant use my own camera for the pix. Comparing prices, This one seems really reasonable compared to other without cameras. I like becuz of the one eye rather then 2 eyes .

Has anyone tried to use just a extended lens to see if you can get a closer clear pic?

"ease of use and I don't have to bend over to peep through a scope."
Just like Dave said, but for a different reason entirely.
Bending over looking into a scope is not something my allergy prone nose really likes to do. :).
