View Full Version : The Mint Mark Position..Position
What's the official look on the Mint Mark Position before it becomes a wanted item? So many degrees rotated, over the date, on the date, way left of the date, etc..etc..etc..?

The MM location would be normal anywhere in the field between the date, rim and vest without overlapping those. I have not seen any concerning rotation that are substantial enough to warrant interest to me with exception of those as secondary MMs such as an S over a rotated S or the 1946 S inverted MM.

At first I thought that the mintmark was trying to escape the "green stuff", now I think that it just wants to get to know the 9 better.

You know that has been my luck.. I find coins that are VG-30.. But darn if I find a actual attributed error then the coin is usually "Enviromental Damage" or "P-(-100)" LOL

The only easy way that i've found to remove that un-wanted grizzle... A toothpick and very lightly walk around the mintmark... Course you need a microscope to tell what your doing....:D
