That's a good question...I found my first 2007 on February 28th, 2007. My first 2006 on January 29th, 2006.

Speaking of 2008 coins, while I was at the FUN show, I picked up the 2008 silver eagle. When you do, if you do, take a look at the differences from last year's silver eagle, it is remarkable. From what I have heard, the dies were laser cut, which is a new process and could very well doom the doubled die.

Went by the donut shop today, (ex-cop):tinysmile_hmm_t:, got two 2008P Lincolns in change. I saw they had two rolls in the tray and asked for those. (Both rolls 2008P). I asked if they had anymore. (Getting funny looks by this time from them and other customers):tinysmile_eyebrow_t. Hesitantly the lady went to a back room and brought out two more rolls and handed them to me.

I left there feeling good that I had finally got a few. Then I thought I would go to the bank next to the donut shop and get a box to search. When I checked the Box. :D all 2008P. Alrighty then, this is getting good.

I went from there to my daughters house and she was still holding onto a birthday gift for me. When I opened it AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh, a box of 2008P cents.

Whoo hooo, what a day.

No Jeff, I'm still empty handed when it comes to the '08's. I just got back from walking the dog. That walk is usually good for a couple coins but not today. When I do finally come across my first '08 it had better be in better shape than that one!:D

Yep, but not only is salt murder on zinc lincolns, but so is air, any moisture, and the simple act of touching them .

Get a good mix of circulated copper / bronze cents and zinc cents , seperate them into two containers and compare the what they look like.
And BU state zinc cents ? They lack the richness you see on earlier Wheaties. BU red zincs are flat strike ( got'ta get more coins out of the die )

Red, RB, Brown w/luster, and even Chocolate Brown Wheats all look better than zincs ever will. Add toning which early Wheats can take on .. and WOW.

After pounding out billions of zincs you'd think you would see something to rival an early Lincoln. In today's Lincolns, I see nothing to compare with the truly copper coins. Those will be be going strong when all else is melted and gone..

That 2008 looks like it has many good years ahead of it. ( yeah, right... )

Twelve hours ago to the minute, roughly two hours after my last post IT finally came. I was searching a $25 box of circulated cents. I found my first 2008 and then my second a couple hours later. That's it, just two in the whole box. Still, I'm happy. It was a good day. I also found a 1949 MS63BN.

Ha! Actually, though you can't see it in the picture, about 1 in 5 rolls has severe coin counter damage on the end coins with two circles of exposed zinc. No wonder the new ones corrode so fast.

However; when I started inspecting the coins, I found that some of them have this strange Circle going through the hair, Mint date and letters on the Obverse.

I placed a few pictures online, so that you could get an idea of what I found. I'm not the best picture taker, please excuse mistakes.

Did anyone else find (new) coins with this problem? Thanks.

I saw the same thing on my new boxes (and on my boxes of 2007's last year). It's just the coin rolling / counting machine scraping along the face, damaging it. Throw it out before it starts corroding!

I got two 2008D's in change from a hardware store yesterday. These are my firsts.

I went to the bank today to get a box of cents, and visit my slabbed coins in the safety deposit box. They are doing fine in case anyone was worried. Anyhow, my box of cents has 50 solid rolls of 2008 Lincoln Cents. I was not expecting that. So now I have Two 2008D's and Five Thousand 2008's.
