This one has come up in the variety arena again and I don't think there is any disputing that there is a "S" mintmark between the "1" and "9" of the date.

There is an excellent article in Coin World Magazine, Pg. 60, dtd; May 18, 2009 by John Wexler and this is listed in the Crawford Files as CDMM-001.

James Wiles (and therefore CONECA) have delisted this purported dual mintmark. I'm agnostic on the issue. There will always be doubt when dealing with a trace this faint and incomplete. A simulacrum is always a possibility. After all, among US coins there are undoubtedly tens of thousands of tiny die dents. Chances are one will eventually resemble a mintmark in size and shape.
