I was just able to look at my first log splitter Lincoln cent and while the design is pleasing to the eye, there are signs of major problems with the die itself.

The example I was able to analysis had a combination of 12 die cracks and/or chips and this was an EDS die. The two areas that will be prone to problems are the "ONE CENT" and Lincoln's boots.

The other example that was sent to me had 6 die anomalies, one very substantial. It was a die crack with die chips that had started in the mallets head and had worked its way to the rim. This die was EMDS. It also had die cracks in the "ONE CENT" and Lincoln's boots.

This may be a fun reverse for those who are into die cracks and chips from the looks of things and I suspect the log will produce many log end to rim die cracks.

I just wonder if the MINT produced enough reverse dies?

Don't know if they did BJ, but maybe it is better they did not. After all we could see some mighty fun broken die error coins. It would be fun to find a beginning to end series of them.
