The anomaly seems to well defined for string and would a piece of string this small indent the hardened die?

I would think that a strand of wire from a cleaning brush would be the more likely candidate for this struck through.

I think the die would push the string into the planchet. It has no place else to go. Just my novice opinion.:tinysmile_hmm_t2:

You are right Jeremy, the string would be in the planchet or struck coin and would have little affect on the die itself. However, a pieces of steel wire would stick into the coin and also indent the die. That is what your coin is showing, the affect of an indented die, which is a raised line on the coin.
