This is the truly rare 1914 D/S Lincoln cent with "extra spacing" between the 9 and 1.

First : Notice the wide space between the number 9 and the second 1. The authentic 1914 D does not have this space. Most times you'll see tooling marks that removed the portion of the first 4. Hoever on a good altered coin, you will find no tooling marks, just the space between the 9 and the second 1. And... the field will NOT be lower between the numbers.

Second: the style of the “D” mintmark is different on 1944 D Lincoln cent and the 1914 D. This coin has the wrong style mintmark for the 1914 D.

It is a 1944-D OMM-002 and a ruined one at that..

Nice Post though ..

That's a nice job on the alterations though. Prob. fool 95% of buyers.

It only cost me $1.50. What should I do with this one? It is an OMM.

Put it on ebay described accurately, as an altered coin. I think you'll do surprisingly well, especially with the very detailed photo you have posted here. Somone will pick it up.
