I dont know why the zinc cents always seem to play dirty tricks on mint marks but here's a nice one. or is it a rpm?

Looks like classic plating split doubling...
It couldn't be a RPM anyway as the Mint stopped punching MMs in 1990

I thought so.. its such a dramatic separation I think I might keep it.
What causes the plating to double like that anyway?

Nice conversation piece or study piece for plating problems.

Hi:
It is a plating problem - save it for a example.
