Hey Everyone. I came across this cent in a roll. It looks to have a silver like color, but weighs very close to a cent. Does this appear to be a after strike...

It could have just been changed because it was heated or altered slightly by being exposed to a chemical. I have found a lot of cents that were probably somewhere very hot and the lose their copper color and appear more like silver or aluminum. It doesn't look like an unplated cent but that could just be the photograph. What is the exact weight?

I would agree that it does not look like an unplated lincoln. I would most likely say that it is Post Mint.

If you want to be sure contact Mdia1@aol.com as he is the guru on errors. Send him your pictures and ask him if he can evaluate the coin by your photos. He will let you know if he needs to see it. His name is Mike Diamond and he is the president of CONECA. Keep us informed.

This coin still has it's mint luster and no pits in it that acid would cause it to look like it was sand blasted, I'd say it was the real deal.......... and it wasn't heated either, as heating would cause the zinc to become toned as well, unless it was cleaned afterwards.
