What is it that you are indicating. I see some split plating but nothing much else.

If your talking about the zinc showing around the 9 Stevens right.

Yep, seriously messed up. Blame the metal strip makers and the mint for all of it.
Still, if it were doubling it would be a super find.

Maybe I haven't looked at enough copper plated pennies, but the ones I have seen seem to have the split plating around the MM and above the motto (especially above TRUST). I was just curious if there was a reason why the plate splitting seems to occur more frequently around those devices? Does it have to do with them being close to the rim?

I haven't read a specific hypothesis about split plate doubling. It does seem to occur closer to the rim.
I am just guessing (and may be miles off the mark) that it might deal with energy from the striking pressure flowing toward the rim and then assuming that the copper and zinc absorb and transfer that motion differently, the plating literally tearing away from the zinc. I am also guessing that those areas of the design which split also happen to be the weakest areas of the plating because the copper has been stretched and thinned around design elements during striking.
