There are several DDOs now listed that are similar to DDO-009 (I believe there are 3-4), and they all have an extra bar of the two above the 2. I only have one of them (DDO-010/1DO-011/CDDO-013).

Now it is my assumption based on observations that the two pictures immediately below showing a small raised area (I'll call it an anomaly), above the 2, which is from (or connected with) the master die doubling on the 2nd master die. I feel like the strength of the anomaly varies from the hub used, die state and wear - thus you don't always find it but it is still very common.

For comparison, at the bottom of my post, I included a picture of DDOs 009 and 010 to illustrate how they are different.

Jason, my understanding is that what you point out (extra blob) is not a part of the master die doubling. To me, the master die doubling shows up a little better in your second image that exhibits a smaller extra point that is located just to the right of the extra blob. That little extra point shows more or less in varying degrees depending on that particular master die.

To me, in what I'm seeing in your images is that blob you speak about looks to be a part of new doubled die and not a part of the master die doubling.

Let's see what other attributer's chime in with.

I agree that these 'anomalies' are not part of the master die doubling. Although the master die die have a little anomaly in this area, all of the ones you show are different doubled dies. The strength of the doubling not only changes, but also the location. In addition, some of these extra bars show up on examples that do not have the master die doubling on the motto and LIBERTY. I am convicted that all of these are different and genuine doubled dies. After all, 1972 had a bunch of different major DDOs. This was not a good year for quality control, but a wonderful year for us!

I was thinking the two at the top (with white arrows) weren't DDOs as I have several that appear to be very similar but are different dies. Let me post more pics and maybe I can send a few out...

Billy and Bob, thanks for chiming in - I appreciate it.
I just thought the area above the 2 looked too similar to be a bunch of (new?) DDOs and I felt they were related to the master-die or (a working-hub?). It is looking a lot like I was wrong…

Here are 14 of them.
The first is a 1972-D; the second and third are circulated 1972-Ps; and the rest are BU 1972-Ps
