Don't know what I would be looking for with the 1958d as there are little to none on examples.
i'm sure that it is dirt on the shadowing of the date. Any feedback??

Hi Schaf,
If it was my coin I would probably clean up the area a little with goo-gone and a soft toothbrush so I could make out the anomaly.

Thats what I would do also.
Good luck. I hope there's something there under the dirt.

I agree with Jean and Rock about goo-gone-ing the area to loosen the dirt -- except I'd suggest rolling a couple of q-tips instead of using a soft toothbrush. I haven't tried a toothbrush, but it worries me that it could scratch the surface unless you know what you're doing. And I don't know what I am doing. Any example where I experimented with rubbing of any kind has revealed tiny scratches under the scope at 60x so I gave up...
