To look under my 10x glass, this coin looks normal, then I put it under my Dinolite microscope, and this pops out, play on light, or am I seeing things.....

Light can be the most depressing area of photography to try and master Brian. The only thing I can suggest is just keep playing with it until the photographs show what you are seeing under your scope or through your loupe. BU cons reflect a lot of light, and by trying to diffuse it, you will see much better results. Go ahead and search for photography info on this site. There is a lot of good info on it.

Thanks for the reply Bob, I know what you mean, the dino-lite scope is a good scope, the only draw back is you can't adjust the light source, I have a circular piece of paper in there now to diffuse the light but it won't lay flat and it's still letting to much light through. I work in a powder coating shop, and have access to masking material, I'm going to grab some of the smaller silicone rubber caps for covering threaded studs to cover the LEDS on the scope to cut back the light and see if that works. The coin I photoed here looks like a doubled ear lob, but I feel it's just a normal coin after looking at some others of the same year............Brian

I heard of some people just blocking the light off completely on them Dinos. Try some electrical tape and use an outer light source, just use the Dino for the picture
