For those interested a 1992-P Lincoln "CLOSE "AM" was found in circulation in Conn.

Ken Potter has written an extensive article on the find in the Sep 7, 2009 Coin World. He has stated that this is only the 2nd one to have been found and authenticated.

He goes on to talk about the findings of the 1992-D CLOSE "AM"'s of which he states that only 15 have been found and verified.

Some interesting articles are to be found in the upcoming issue and also about the 1972 DDO's.

I was lucky enough to get to see the first one 'in hand'. There has got to be more of them out there, and the New England area seems to be where they are at.

I am hoping they make it down south here to my area.:)

I also hope the ambulance gets here in plenty of time if I find one, as I want more than just one look at it.:LOL_Hair:

At the time I examined it, I had no idea of how rare this was really going to be. If you have a heart attack Joe...I'll probably feel it down here!

Is there a hypothesis generated to explain why these aren't being found more regularly? Are the few found (both P and D) all EDS? Is there any reason to assume that those dies didn't get at least a partial if not a complete die run?

As Bob states above, "There has got to be more of them out there...," right?

If I am not mistaken both were assumed to have been found early in the production and the dies were pulled. Not sure if they are EDS. One of the attributers can proably answer that question.

I know on my 1992-D Close "AM" that John Wexler attributed he did not state which stage it was in the Wexler files.

Seems like several of the recent goodies have been found in the northeast- this variety, 1982 DDR, Snowman's "1988 reverse of '89", I think the big 1996 DDO was here too?

1996 DDO was mostly found in Rochester, NY.
