My old woman just got me some of those new 2009 pennies and they all came from the US MINT. They are wrapped in paper rolls that says the "U.S. Mint". I would like to look at all these coins through my high powred magifying glass but I am afraid that if I open the rolls the value of these coins will drop.

What should I do?

It all depends on what your long term plans are for these coins. The Formative years cents have plenty of doubled dies in there, and if that is what you are seeking, then I would go ahead and open them. If you only want to sell them in the future, one can only guess what they might bring in the future. Pretty tough decision to make.

I have to agree with Bob, Ther are MANY DDR's in the FY's so unless you want to sell them un-searched period. I would open the box, look at say 3 rolls, see what is there and try to sell the rest of the un-opened rolls later. Right now they are not commanding much unless you have the better die's . then it's tough to speculate. I've found as many as 11 of one die all the way down to 2 in a single roll. Every now and then you find a roll with 3 different die's that still will only account for about at best 17 coins. Just something else to think about!!!
