I posted this question yesterday on PCGS and I didnt get a response. There is many threads on the forum there and it just got buried in a matter of hours. I thought a few would give a response

i think this would pertain to Lincoln cents also

I'm not sure what you mean by SMS sets from 2005 onward- as far as I know, the only SMS sets are from 1965 through 1967.

Jeff, my "guess" would be that they are separate numbers, one for business strikes and the other for the mint sets so the combined total would be the "total" mintage. Like I said that's only a guess. That sounds like an appropriate question for Alan Herbert's Coin Clinic section of Numismatic News. You can reach him by emailing Answerman2@aol.com . Let me know if you're going to send it to him and I'll keep my eye out for the question and post the answer here for those who don't subscribe.

David - i sent a email for the question to answerman so maybe this question will be answered to ease my mind .. LOL

AG - SMS is the same thing as Satin Finish. if you look up on ebay and type in "SMS" it will pull many items for sale labeled as SMS that NGC and PCGS uses on the labels for the coins sold in Uncirculated sets from 2005 to now.

the answer is - The Mint does not include the collector set numbers in their mintage figures
