I have a 1962 that seems like the obverse is real thick, like someone selected a BOLD font..:)

It could be a very mild doubled die. CONECA and other websites have no listings for a 1962 D ddo that I could find. Brad

A possiblility here is that this is a class 6 doubled die caused by the hubbing of the die with more pressure than normal.
