2003 p ddr? The U in EPU

Now I do see something that looks like a separation line...but it could be light machine doubling. I have a few questions: is there notching, does the letter appear thicker than normal and is there evidence of anything else on surrounding devices? I cannot tell from the photos.

Afraid this is machine doubling or some damage. The letter is not any thicker than normal. Also, if this were a doubled die, and the separation was as strong as it seems, then adjoining letters or the dot would be doubled as well. It is highly unlikely that only one letter would be affected.
