Found this tonight.
My first decent class 1 find. I'm as happy as a collector can be.

Nice spread on the O D U Rock, Congratz and the coin looks to be a strong XF 45, I don't think we can stretch a AU50 out of it but I don't see the rev anyways.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I agree, the coin is a nice XF45, which I'm happy with. the reverse is about the same as the obverse. it's always my fear to find something like this and there will be a big ol' gash running across it.

What a beauty! Very nice find Rock. Can I ask if it was found in a batch of wheats or bank rolls?

Hi Mikep,
It was found in a batch of wheats. I bought about 4 bags from a non-collector locally last march for a song. From the story I had heard prior to the purchase, I believed they were truly unsearched. I've been slowly going thru them since then and still have a little more than 2 bags left. I've found quite a few nice varieties so far including 1924S-1MM-001, 1925S-1MM-003, 1937P-1DO-001, 1942S-1DO-002, 1943P-1DO-001, 1943S-1MM-001. This find is my best Class 1 so far and I'm hoping to find another before I'm thru. I just got real lucky stumbling across this batch of wheats that's been sitting in a house for decades.

Sound like a very good batch Rock! Good luck with the rest of them. I always wanted to buy a bag of wheats to search through, but was afraid of getting a bunch of coins that were searched several times over.
