Fellow LCR member jpl6332 who recently posted this '68D DDR find graciously allowed me to photograph his coin. The coin shows a nice class V CW spread from K7.
This example appears to be a stage C (LMDS-LDS) as the reverse shows clash marks in bays 8 & 9 (see overlay towards the bottom); heavy die scratches throughout the reverse to cover up the clash; a die break on column 12 - while the obverse is the 2nd example to be paired with this die (see mintmark position comparison below and the photo of TRUST that does not show the gouges found on EDS-MDS examples).
Happy Thanksgiving!

First of all, I don't see the pics. (anymore) Secondly, is there some reason that this is not listed on the "Double Dies" page? (Just curious) I'd like to see the examples and learn a little something. They (examples) are priceless.
Thanks.

George,
This is in the right place. This is an educational section where varieties are shown for the beginner. A doubled die is a variety, so it's cool being here. This was placed here last year. If you want to see something specific, you can always attempt a search. If you can't find it, make a request and we will be happy to supply you with pics if we have the coin, or you can always go to coppercoins.com, or other sites that may have pics for you to view.

Ah, one of my older threads. If the pictures were down it was likely an issue with Photobucket where the photos were posted (as of right now) I see them in the thread.

I recently had ANACS grade this coin and it came back as MS65 RB, which is really annoying as it looks Red to me, sometimes I think we are splitting hairs on the grading, one hair the right way could mean a thousand dollar difference either way...what a racket.

Looked like a solid RED to me - the grader must have been having a bad day or something, which of course should not happen...

Thanks for the clarifications to all and especially to Jason for the spectacular display, so if you learn better .. ....
