Hi All:

I cant match this to Copper coins or Billy's CD, but I think its a legit DDR.

What do you guys think?

DWK...What do you see that makes you think this is a doubled die?

I see lots of doubling but I guess its MDD. The G of FG is what gets me mostly.

I always have trouble distinguishing MDD from Die doubling unless its obvious.

Many of the more subtle DDs on copper coins or other references look the same as MDD to me. Is notching an absolute requirement for a doubled die? I don't always see it. I'm gradually getting a little bit better but its still tough for me.

Thanks for your input Bob.

Notching is the main indicator on doubled dies. There is other stuff such as thickness and separation lines. "Practice Makes Perfect" "keep Searching" "doubled is as
doubled does" (just made that one up, lol). But these 89's, you need notching.
Sort of catchy--- "DOUBLED IS AS DOUBLED DOES". guess this means you can't put something into a penny that isn't there.
