I am a member of a Coin Club that meets on Monday nites. I reguarly visit. When I look at the coins before the meeting everyone watches what I look at. When I start to bid there are certain people that will bid against me because I check everything with a loupe. I am the only one there with a loupe. It makes sense that I am looking and bidding, but other than raise the prices on there coins, why would they bid against me?

Wow ! Sounds like a fierce club...

You just keep on doing what you want to do.

Hope the club provides educational value and collectror fun. Stay away from bidding wars . Wether they are on eBay , Regional coin shows or where ever...

When the bidding begins, I usually will bid a couple of times. I pretty much know the value of the coin or coins when I look it up after looking at it. I usually let the bidder have it. I also have noticed that collectors there team up, meaning that a seller will get someone else to bid for his coin to raise the price.

I once bought a RPM, paid a guy that had his name on it, another guy in the back called my name out and said I owed him money for the coin. You know how I figured that one out.

Spend about 30 minutes studying the least valuable coin at the auction. Then as soon as the biding starts, bid twice what it is worth....then see what happens.

That's good info. The people here are not knowledgeable about errors. They deal only in Silver. Like I said, they usually team up and buy there partner's coins. I't a good o'ld boy's club that prey on the unsuspecting. It's a shame buy your right, I will do that.
