I have 11 lbs. of cents. The majority of them are zinc. I picked them up last nite. What is the formula to find the aproximate $ figure I have?

I'm partial to metric, myself, so here goes:
11 lbs * 1 kg / 2.2 lbs = 5.0 kg
5.0 kg * 1000 g / 1 kg = 5000 g
5000 g / (2.5 g / 1 zinc cent) = 2000 zinc cents
$20 is what you have.
Useful alternate calculation:
$1 face value, zinc cents = 100 cents
100 cents * 2.5 g / cent = 250 g
250 g * 1 kg / 1000 g = 0.25 kg
0.25 kg * 2.2 lbs / 1 kg = 0.55 lbs
Thus, every 0.55 pounds contains $1 face value zinc cents.

And ... pre-1982 copper LCs are approx. 3.1 g each vs. 2.5
