Okay folks I have a tough one here. I bought this coin through mail order and it was supposed to be an S over Horizontal S or RPM #2 and instead I think it is the S/S Northeast. What are those funky scratches around the MM? What do you think and what grade would you give it?

Looks like 1MM-001 (RPM #1) to me.

Looks like RPM-001 - nice RPM Jeff!
If the scratches are die scratches maybe it is EDS? I don't have an illustration of a Stage a which is reported to have scratches in that area. I don't see any noticeable wear...a low MS brown maybe?

RPM 1, looks like die scratches to me. One of my favorite RPM's.

If you got this one for the price of the horizontal you did very well. In my experience, the Rpm #1 is far scracer than the #2. I have the Rpm #1 in 65 Red, I'll check the coin this weekend and see if the die markers match.
