I've asked if anyone collected cuds before with no answer. Just wanted to know if anyone had any they wanted to sell or trade.

I haven't actively sought them out but have acquired 5-10 from circulation, most 1/8" wide below the bust of Lincoln somewhere. I have some that are similar enough that I'd sell or trade them. I've recently gotten more curious about the really large CUDs but have no idea what they're worth and haven't seen any on eBay recently.

Cuds are the result of severe die cracks. I guess when you no longer see the results from a crack but in stead a blob, then you have a CUD.
I have a few tossed the side . Will see what I can dig out.

Way before photography of coins came into popularity. I had a couple 1972 LC with their CUDs right over GOD in the "in god we trust motto". Think they are what in known as "Atheist cents" One went to a collection my oldest still has. The other was in with a LC collection w/o keys I traded for a certified 1955 DDO.

Yes.. it was an Nice set. But the fact that I left that 72 Atheist CUD in that Dansco album has bugged more than me a few times since. Wished now I'd kept that single coin. Have found some strange stuff since but not one of those.

Interesting that 3 diff yrs have cud in same spot. Any theories?

I think the bottom edge of Lincoln's bust, being so close to the edge, makes for one of the weaker spots on the die so it's likely to break there.

Makes sense to me. Another good theory.

Shing: A couple of cuds for you to chew on, from my cud cup.

Nothing major. I'm not even sure they all qualify as cuds, except for the colo qtr.

If you're int in anything suggest a trade.
I'll gladly take your 92d close.:tinysmile_hmm_t:

All nice CUD pics..

Now picture a CUD three to four times as large covering the word GOD in the motto.

I would have thought there would be a picture like that some where in the WWW?

Thanks AgCollector... Now . that's what I'm talking about. Nice pic, you've made my Sunday.

That is even more than an "Atheist" cent . Though it would have been cool if the the CUD covered a little less and it read "RUST"

NICE Picture.

Hello, I am Pat, and I am new to the group, but yes I do collect cuds also.
I'm not sure what kind of cuds: date, mint mark, legend or other error you're looking for.

May be I have a few you can trade.

I meant to post this reply from heritage. I sold the coin for 1650.00 on ebay.
Thank you for your question. Our cent specialist says that this coin could be worth $500 or as much as $1,000, possibly more at auction.
