Got home today and my wife had found some coins in the yard. I got out the metal detector and we went to the area she found them and we found several more. The dates ran from 2000 back to the 70s.
Then I found this one and it felt kinda light but looked real with the dirt still covering it. I brought it in, washed the dirt off and this it what was there.
Looks to be a button of some kind. Neat little find even though it is a piece of junk:tinysmile_hmm_t:

The rest of the coins were real.:)

Metal detecting is fun,,,,,even if it is in your own back yard.

That would be neat to try.. any equipment recommendations or tricks in using one?

There can be quite a bit of difference from one detector to another but I think the main thing is to have your discriminators set right so that you don't pick up every gum wrapper and pop top in the ground.

Others may have their own ideas on what is best to do though. Lets see if anyone else adds to this. I could use some more pointers as well.
