I don't think that the chip detracts from the value. It may even add some value. 1960 D Small Dates are not scarce like the 1960 P anyhow. A lot of collectors save die chips.

i collect die chips and even though overall they dont add much to the value they are fun to collect. im always looking for more that i dont have.

Don't know why but I like chips as well. They seem to add character to an otherwise plain coin. Like the mole on a pretty woman's face. George
