Was at CSNS and visited a dealer who had at least three dozen NGC MS66 RD 1995 DDOs all stacked in his case. These modern day rarities are there for the searching in rolls and they will be found. I always say where there is one DDO in a mintage of 6,411,440,000 rest assured there are without a doubt many many others. It usually just takes a while for them to surface. And when they surface.. they surface in BU.

Was looking through either April Coin World and XF 1998 Wide AM are being sold for a buck and a half and the 2000 wide AM rarity is now being sold for a dollar. 1999 wide AM XF are still at hundred but if more were to surface in BU rolls those prices will go down.

Rarity is used way to often in describing modern coinage and in effect has lost its meaning.

I did one of those searches within errors for the word rare on ebay... interesting results.

Interested in what ya'all feel is rare or what in the last last thirty years or so and can be considered rare? ( Naturally since we are on the LCR Forum ... this is in relation to Lincoln Cents / LC hub varieties. )

It is probably reasonably safe to say the relatively recently discovered 1982 DDR would be considered rare. Just barely fitting into the thirty year window you set there is less chance of a BU roll of those turning up than most other "rarities".

I would agree ... its roll prices will start to go up and by this point in time you'd think if there were lots of them out there a few would have surfaced. The 82 DDR appears to be no " flash in the pan "

It is interesting how some of these reverse DDO stay "hidden" so long.

I wonder if sometimes it is due to the fact that no took the time to look at the reverse. I was reading a comment in one of the trade rags recently that mentioned that point in regard to DDRs.

This may fall under the heading of a cherry pickin' tip: Looking through lots of cents quickly while at shows ... I always turn those date/MM stacks of Lincolns around. Flip through 'em real fast. Hey, all you are trying to do is pick up on something the person tossing it into the 2x2 missed and not spend lots of time analyzing / looking too closely at a coin. Recent finds a CSNS show it works.. there were several 1909 DDRs a 34 DDR and two 38-D BU DDRs found that way.

Thanks for the great tip. Your success is proof your technique is a winner. Keep the tips coming, we're all (Wheat) Ears.:D

One of our LCR Forum members has some insight and background about the 1982 DDR and has written about it. It may be of interest to Forum members. Here is the link:

In reading Bill's article I noticed he did not use word rare or rarity when describing that coin. (Though I truly feel the 82 will turn out to be one.) Just thought that was interesting in reading an article from a person who has some years and experience in LC varieties.

Thanks for all your contibutions to the hobby. Kudos .. Foundinrolls!
