1984 DDO or MDD?

Do I dare hope. It just doesn't look right. Could it be DDO and MDD both?

When I first found one of these I thought it was machine doubling. I'm still not sure but in Ken Potter's book Strike It Rich With Pocket Change he calls it 1984 Doubled Ear #2. I'm curious to see what other LCR members have to say about it. I have saved a few of them.

I do beleive it's MD. MD appear's anywhere on a coin, it can effect just part's or the entire coin. My opinion is MD. Other's may have there own.

I've come across them also..

That look in front of Lincoln face is found on tons of coins in the 60s also. Though they are not refered to as doubled dies. That feature is mentioned in one of my books and I fail to remember which . Maybe the ARLC or one of Wexler's DDO sprial bounds.

I do not beleive it to be a DDO. Will get that recent publication.

It is interesting if he labled it Double Ear # 2 . ( as some still do not beleive some double ears to be doubled dies )

I still have so much trouble distinguishing doubled dies from worn dies. This one just doesn't look right to me, but I'm often wrong when I think I have a good one.

Not that this is very important, but someone is trying to sell one of these on eBay right now as a DDO#1 (1-O-IV) in a ICG holder graded MS-65, the seller is claiming ICG didn't notice the variety. And after 10 bids they have it up to $200 with about a day to go.
I knew it wasn't DDO #1 as I have one, and it is really obvious, but I hadn't seen this listed variety anywhere previously.

I know that John Wexler and Kevin Flynn are currently working on the second edition of ARLC. Doubledguy(John) mentioned it on coppercoins.

I have put in an respectful notice of inquiry to both the seller and eBay.. (most likely...eBay and the seller will delay getting back and it will get sold as misrepresented.. )

I had also heard John Bordner wanted to move on to a second volume of "The Comprehensive Guide to Lincoln Cent Repunched Mintmark Varieties. I think LC variety junkies would love that.
